About

Hello there!

kouzinacousins

from left: Effie, Louisa and Eleni. Sketch drawn by Eleni at some point in the early 90s.

We are part a big extended Greek family that loves food.  Effie (on the left with the bun) had a great idea for us to create a cookbook to document all of the amazing food that our family has enjoyed over the years.

This led to a flurry of emails and spiraled into the idea of this blog.  Our goal is to gather the  recipes for the traditional Greek food we know and love.  We have recruited our mother  and aunt to show us the ropes, and will convert their recipes from ‘houftes’ (handfuls) and ‘tsibyies’ (pinches) to standard measurements so that these recipes can be passed down to our children and grandchildren. We also hope to share new recipes that have become family favorites in recent years. We’ll post the recipes and photos here, and share them with you as we go. Once we have a good collection of recipes on file, we’ll compile them into a book that we hope will be a family treasure.

This should be fun! We hope you enjoy it too.

Thank you Effie for inviting me to receive this blog! The Merianos recipes are truly to be treasured. Theo Angelo and I used to swoon over dinners with the family always and the pastries were to die for…….It is so
wonderful that you and your cousins are embarking on this special project that will then be a great gift for your children and grandchildren, etc. Thea Kathy

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this website.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s
tough to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual
appearance. I must say that you’ve done a amazing job with this.
In addition, the blog loads super quick for
    me on Chrome. Outstanding Blog!

This design is steller! You definitely know how to keep a reader entertained.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own
blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how
    you presented it. Too cool!
